A Wolf Trapper Education class has been scheduled for Saturday at the Idaho Fish and Game regional office at 1345 Barton Road in Pocatello. The class runs from 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. If you are interested in trapping wolves in the state of Idaho, you must have the appropriate certification before you can purchase a wolf tag.
This eight-hour course provides students with interactive, hands-on training from experienced, certified, volunteer trapper instructors. Course curriculum includes wolf management; wolf trapping regulations and ethics; wolf habits and behavior; making, rigging and setting traps and snares; proper care for a wolf; and reporting requirements.
Cost is $8 per student (online registration includes an additional convenience fee of $1.75). Registration can be completed online at idfg.idaho.gov/education/wolf-trapper-education-course or by calling the Idaho Fish and Game regional office in Pocatello at 208-232-4703. Walk-ins will be accepted if space is available.
Note that taking a Wolf Trapper Education class does not fulfill the requirement of a Trapper Education course. As of July 1, completion of a Trapper Education course became mandatory for anyone who purchased their first Idaho trapping license on or after July 1, 2011.
