UPDATE: Missing fishermen found safe

Two Nampa men who went fishing together Sunday and didn't return home have been found safe, according to the Nampa Police Department.

Wade Osterhout, 32, and Larry Brewer, 48, were reported missing Monday by their families during separate calls to police. Police learned that Osterhout and Brewer had gone fishing together the day before. Family members became concerned when neither showed up at home and both missed work Monday.

According to a Nampa Police press release, the two men were found near the Snake River in the area of the Guffey Bridge at Celebration Park.

Monday night Civil Air Patrol found the fishermen's vehicle in the Swan Falls area abandoned. Early this morning the Civil Air Patrol used information from the phone when it became active and located them. The release states the family went to the area and found them safe.

According to the release, one of the watercraft's motors stopped working and the men were stuck in an area with no cell service and one phone fell into the river. Osterhout and Brewer were unable to contact their families.

The Nampa Police Department wants to thank other agencies and people who helped with the search efforts.

The police department advises the public, when planning outdoor trips, to make sure family members know where you're going and how long you'll be gone. If you're planning to be on water, police encourage you to carry a personal flotation device and whistle.
