POCATELLO — A restaurant and sports bar specializing in gourmet pizzas and pastas is expected to open in Pocatello by next spring.
Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar will be located inside the Red Lion Hotel at 1555 Pocatello Creek Road, according to a news release. It will bring roughly 35 to 40 more jobs to the community.
Jabbar Singh Dhaliwal, who has experience owning and operating convenience stores and Red Lion Hotels in Canada and the U.— including the one in Pocatello — will own and operate the restaurant, according to the news release. It will be the first Boston’s in Idaho.
“I fell in love with the Boston’s brand in Canada and am extremely excited to bring the concept to my community here in Pocatello,” Jabbar said in the news release. “With thousands of visitors, college students, and residents, we truly believe that Boston’s second-to-none food and dining experience will be a great fit here in Pocatello.”
His son, Nathan Dhaliwal, general manager of the Red Lion in Pocatello and a representative of the new restaurant, agrees. He thinks the high-quality food and atmosphere will appeal to many.

The restaurant, which offers both a casual dining area for families and a sports bar where people can gather to watch a game, is unique, he said, adding that it’s really two concepts under one roof.
“They’ve created a concept that appeals to all ages and experiences,” Nathan said.
The restaurant, which will have room for nearly 300 guests, will be able to accommodate gatherings of all sizes, according to the news release.
While Boston’s specializes in gourmet pizzas and pastas, it also serves up salads, sandwiches, burgers, wings and ribs, among other foods.
Nathan said his favorites include the Deluxe pizza, which comes with smoked ham, pepperoni, marinated mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and green peppers, and the Spicy Chicken & Broccoli Penne Alfredo. The latter dish includes a creamy Cajun alfredo sauce with roasted garlic, sun-dried tomatoes and parmesan cheese, according to Boston’s online menu.
Nathan thinks the restaurant, which will have its own entrance at the Red Lion, will be an asset for both community members and hotel guests.
While the Red Lion has had a lounge, Nathan said they’ve been looking to create something more for their guests for a long time, and he thinks adding Boston’s tasty foods and drinks to the facility will do that.
“It will definitely make (our) guest’s experience at the hotel a lot better,” he said.
While this will be the first in Idaho, there are 27 Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bars currently operating in 15 states, according to the news release. The company’s sister brand, Boston Pizza, has more than 400 locations in Canada.
