POCATELLO — Pocatello Pet Lodge is now accepting guests at its new second location.
“Pocatello Pet Lodge, Too” recently opened at 143 S. 2nd Ave. in Old Town. The new location is just one block west of the main location at 145 S. 3rd Ave.
“We were constantly putting people on a wait list,” said Stephanie Adams, owner of Pocatello Pet Lodge. “We weren’t able to offer services to everyone in the community who were interested in our business so instead of referring those clients to other facilities, we decided to accommodate our own wait list.”
Pocatello Pet Lodge, Too will be a home away from home for small and senior canine guests.
The new facility will offer daycare and overnight boarding to dogs under 35 pounds, dogs 12 years of age or older and/or dogs who are small in spirit.
“We wanted to be able to offer more pet parents our services more of the time. And with the two facilities being so close to each other it only made sense to divide the guests,” said Adams.
Adams opened Pocatello Pet Lodge in October 2008 and after several moves finally found a permanent location in Old Town Pocatello.
Pet Lodge’s entire grooming salon, recently voted the No. 1 Groomer in Pocatello in the Idaho State Journal’s Readers’ Choice Awards, has also moved into the new location and expanded.
With room for two groomers to work simultaneously, Adams hopes to accommodate more appointment requests than ever.
“It’s a completely different feeling in the new building,” said Laura Mikesell, a dog groomer at Pocatello Pet Lodge. “The atmosphere is calmer, the dogs seem very comfortable, it’s much more relaxed.”
Selecting the guests to stay at the new location was as much about comfort as it was about safety.
“Older and smaller dogs move and play and act differently than their bigger, usually more boisterous, counterparts,” said Adams. “We can accommodate more pets at both locations under the best circumstances for each.”
Both facilities can take reservations, appointments and service requests, but to reach the new facility directly, the phone number is 208-238-7387.
Both locations are open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and take year-round reservations, standing daycare appointments and advance grooming bookings.
“There are a lot of pet owners in Pocatello,” said Adams. “We want to play a big role in as many pets’ lives in the community as we can.”
