BOISE – Idaho Secretary of State Lawerence Denney received, by email, a letter Thursday from Vice Chair Kris Kobach of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity. The letter expressed the Commission’s renewal of their initial June 2017 request for the portions of Idaho’s voter registration information that is publicly available. While the official hardcopy letter won’t be received by the Secretary’s office for a few days, the email copy does provide much more detail from the commission than the original request.
“A few significant details have been included in this letter that are answers to questions that many of the Secretaries of State, including myself, had with regards to the first request,” says Idaho Secretary of State Denney. “Most notably, they have addressed the concern that any personally identifiable information will not, in fact, be released in any format, and that a secure data transmission portal for the data files will be provided.”
Additionally, the letter explains that “the only information that will be made public are statistical conclusions drawn from the data, or other general observations that may be drawn from the data, and any correspondence that may be sent to the commission in response to the narrative questions enumerated in the June 28 letter.” It also states that the Commission will “dispose of the data as permitted by Federal Law” once it has completed its analysis.
