Molinelli’s Pray for Rain Guarantee benefits newlyweds

Newlyweds Ryland and Jade Rammell received a check from Molinelli’s Jewelers in Pocatello after it rained on their wedding day. That’s because they participated in Molinelli’s Pray for Rain Guarantee program.

POCATELLO — For two local couples this year’s rain, flooding and high water haven’t been all bad news.

Ryland and Jade Rammell, and Mandy and Crystal Peace had planned for beautiful spring weddings until heavy rain marred their special days.

Despite the rain, there was a silver lining for both couples.

Luckily, each couple had purchased their engagement rings at the local jewelery store, Molinelli’s Jewelers.

“Of course no one really wants it to rain on their wedding day and spoil things, but it’s nice that something good can come of it,” said Lance Buttars, owner of Molinelli’s Jewelers.

Molinelli’s offers couples who purchase rings at their store a bad weather guarantee.

“In order to compete with online sales, we have to offer value,” said Buttars. “We know our jewelry will be more, but it’s not about what you pay, it’s about what you get.”

If a couple buys an engagement ring or wedding ring combo of $1,500 or more, they qualify to enter the guarantee. To enter, all a couple has to do is register their wedding date at least 30 days in advance.

The Pray for Rain Guarantee states that if it rains 1/2 inch or snows 3 inches or more on your wedding day, Molinelli’s will reimburse the couple’s purchase up to $5,000.

The measurement of the rain or snow is based upon the official measurement at the Pocatello Airport.

In the eight years Molinelli’s has offered their Pray for Rain Guarantee, five couples have been reimbursed because of bad weather conditions on their wedding day, with two instances happening in the last 60 days.

“It is not ideal for us to have people win, but when they do, I can’t buy that type of excitement or advertising,” said Buttars. “It creates a buzz that sticks with people so when it’s their turn, they think of Molinelli’s.”

Buttars recently asked the most recent winner, Mandy Peace if she would rather have no rain on her wedding day or the check.

She said the rain was not welcome but the check was great.

“Really it’s as simple as trying to build value and making couples choose us amongst the competition,” said Buttars. “The Pray for Rain Guarantee is just another reason why they should come to us. It pays to shop at Molinelli’s,” Buttars said.
