An enormous thank you goes out to the class and Board of Directors from Leadership Pocatello. Last Thursday members spent their afternoon planting the Old Town flower pots on the East side, planted 15 new flower pots for the West side and cleaned up Leadership Pocatello Park, Dudunake Park and the downtown reach of the Greenway. We appreciate the hard work and commitment to helping keep our downtown beautiful!
Portneuf Valley Bike to Work is sponsoring the Annual Bike Parade this Friday at the Old Town Pavilion. Activities begin at 5pm with the parade at 6:15pm. The parade is approximately 2 miles and starts and ends at the Old Town Pavilion. Old Town Pocatello is providing hot dogs, chips and drinks for parade participants. The Pocatello Police Department will be on hand to provide free bicycle registering. Other activities include a bounce house and music. Plan now to dress up, dress up your bike and come enjoy this fun family event to celebrate Bike to Work Month.
Pinehurst Nursery has been growing our hanging flower baskets inside their greenhouse and it’s almost time for their debut. Weather permitting, the baskets will go up this Thursday. The staff from Myers Anderson Architects will be putting the baskets up as a community service project. There will be 17 baskets hung on East Center and 80 baskets hung on the West side of Old Town, all thanks to the sponsors that fund the baskets each year. Do you sponsor a basket? The Pocatello Art Center offers “Pay As You Go” classes for artistically minded people who would like to join a friendly group and get some guidance with their projects. Bob Beason provides assistance in all media on Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 pm, Karen Wardle focuses on issues with oil paintings on Wednesdays from 9 am to 12 pm, as well as Pennie Wolf from 1 to 4 pm on Thursdays. Bring a project, art supplies, and your questions. Sessions are $12.50 with no registration required. The Pocatello Art Center is located at 444 N. The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will open on Saturday at 9am with locally grown hanging flower baskets, vegetable plants, bedding plants and flowers; everything you need to make your yard beautiful this summer. At the Market you will also find fresh breads, handmade jewelry, yard ornaments, bird feeders and more. Come shop the Farmers Market at the Old Town Pavilion from 9am to 1pm every Saturday.
At Portneuf Valley Brewing come check out Build for Slow this Friday and see singer/songwriter Brian Smith perform his one-man wonderment that’s traveled from Addis Ababa all around the globe. Saturday night they’ve got the Lowkey Savs out of Montana. Both shows this weekend go from 9pm – 11:30pm with no cover. The weekend doesn’t stop there! PVB is open on Sundays for the summer. Enjoy a cold brew on the deck while soaking up some sun on a lazy Sunday afternoon from 10am – 9pm. This is Craft Beer Week and PVB is celebrating with half price pints and mugs of beer all week long!
