Thank you to all of the wonderfully talented kids that came out on Friday for the Sidewalk Chalk Art Walk. The response and participation for this new annual event in Old Town was very exciting. If your kids haven’t had a chance to stop by and pick up their t-shirts and bag of goodies, stop by the Old Town office this week.
Congratulations to Old Town’s Relight the Night Committee for another successful historic neon sign relighting! On Friday evening following Art Walk, the Chopsticks Café sign was officially turned back on and now shines brightly every evening on Main Street. This marks the fifth sign to be repaired and relit as a result of the hard work and efforts of this committee led by Randy Dixon. Thank you to all of those on the committee and those who have made contributions to make the sign relightings possible. You too can help relight future signs. The Pocatello Art Center offers “Pay As You Go” classes for artistically minded people who would like to join a friendly group and get some guidance with their projects. Bob Beason provides assistance in all media on Tuesdays from 9 am to 12 pm, Karen Wardle focuses on issues with oil paintings on Wednesdays from 9 am to 12 pm, as well as Pennie Wolf from 1 to 4 pm on Thursdays. Bring a project, art supplies, and your questions. Sessions are $12.50 with no registration required. The Pocatello Art Center is located at 444 N. The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will open on Saturday at 9am with lots of great ideas for Mother’s Day. The Market is located at the Old Town Pavilion, 420 N. Main and will be open every Saturday from 9am to 1pm through the end of October. And, on Wednesdays from 5-8pm in conjunction with Revive @ 5 beginning on May 24.

This weekend at Portneuf Valley Brewing catch Whiskey Hangover, playing top 40 country and classic rock this Friday. Then on Saturday, one-man phenom Tom Murphy bringing his special brand of contemporary rock. Both shows are in the Loft from 9pm – 11:30pm with no cover. PVB will be open on Sundays again starting Mother’s Day, May 14th. Bring your mother down for lunch or dinner and PVB will buy her a beer!
Upcoming Events!
Portneuf Valley Bike to Work will host the Annual Bike Parade on May 19 at the Old Town Pavilion. Activities begin at 5:00pm with the parade at 6:15pm. Decorate your bikes and bring the kids to enjoy dinner while celebrating Bike to Work Month.
The Revive @ 5 Summer Concerts will begin on Wednesday, May 24 and continue every Wednesday through August. From 5-8pm enjoy live music, great food and family fun at the Old Town Pavilion. This summer’s schedule is available at www.oldtownpocatello.com.
