Celebrate Idaho State, a CommUniversity event, is set for Wednesday from 4-7 pm, in ISU Pond Student Union. The event features more than 50 interactive booths with family activities. This year’s events have a focus on the arts and are free and open to the public. Food, games and the opportunity to learn more about ISU all in one fun evening.

Stop by The Elwen Cottage, 334 N. Main St., on Thursday from 6-8:30 pm to learn about painting, glazing and other fun finishes with Dixie Belle products. Call to reserve your spot today, 208-380-5561.

The new year round for the Junior Golf Program will begin on Thursday at Parfive Five, 123 N. Main St. There is also a list of upcoming golf events: Men’s golf tournament, women’s golf tournament, kid’s golf tournament, fitting/demo day, and long drive competition for men, women, and juniors. The next beginning digital photography 4-week class also starts on Thursday, and continues, on the 9, 16, then the 25th at Pocatello Art Center from 5 to 7 PM. The instructor is Richard Albright. This course will show students how to best use their digital cameras. You need to pre-register and pay fees at the Art Center. Call 232-0970 or 233-1066 for more information. The weather looks warmer this week, just in time for the February First Friday Art Walk. Plan now to join us downtown on Friday from 5-8 pm. This week at Portneuf Valley Brewing: Come down for First Friday Art Walk and see the new artwork displayed by photographer Herman Garcia. That night PVB will also have a very special performance by the Cathlene Pineda Quartet from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm. This show is presented by the ISU Jazz Fest and they will be collecting $10 — cash or check accepted. Saturday night catch phenomenal singer/songwriter Ray Rodriguez performing a swath of styles on his acoustic guitar from classical to classic rock. That show goes from 9pm — 11:30 pm with no cover. As always, trivia nights are Mondays starting at 7pm. It’s free to play and players win sweet prizes like gift certificates and PVB swag.

The Pocatello Art Center will be hosting two new special exhibits, as well as a variety of artwork created by members of the Pocatello Art Center during the First Friday Art Walk on Feb. 3 from 5 — 8 pm. The local chapter of the Idaho Watercolor Society will have their annual show, along with photos from the Portneuf Valley Photographic Society taken during World Wide Photo Walk. Wooden bowls and vessels by artist and wood turner Nathan Hemperly will also be on display. The show will continue through February in the Pocatello Art Center Gallery. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 4 pm. The Pocatello Art Center is located at 444 N.
