Sheriff’s Office finds medical item belonging to missing South Idaho man

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office has found a medical item belonging to a Boise man who went missing June 29. 

John “Randy” French, 54, left Boise June 29 to go fishing in the Riggins area and was due home July 1. French did not return and Saturday night the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office released a report that someone had found a medical item belonging to French five miles north of Riggins on the bank of the Salmon River. 

Authorities said French’s family confirmed the item did belong to French. 

The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office said their search efforts are now focused in the area between the Lake Creek Bridge and Fiddle Creek. French was last known to be in the Salmon Rapids Lodge parking lot in Riggins. 

French is driving a maroon 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck with specialty salmon Idaho plates 9435D. Anyone with information about French or his vehicle should call the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office at 208-983-1100.

Authorities searching for South Idaho man who never returned home from fishing trip

RIGGINS — The Idaho County Sheriff’s Office has requested the public’s help in finding a Boise man who never returned from a fishing trip.

John “Randy” French, 54, left on June 29 to fish in the Riggins area. He was due home July 1 but never arrived, according to a news release.

The release states the last place he was known to be was in the Salmon Rapids Lodge parking lot in Riggins on the night of June 29.

French is driving a Maroon 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup with Idaho license plate 9435D, which is a specialty salmon plate.

The Boise Police Department has taken a missing person report, and the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for French in fishing spots around the area.
