The Westside Ranger District will be conducting fuels reduction/prescribed burns in the Scout Mountain Campground area and along the Crystal/Elk Meadows road over the next 3-4 weeks.
Piles of vegetation that were created from fuel breaks cut last summer will be burned while there are favorable conditions.
Both of these areas are currently closed to vehicle travel, however people may see smoke rising from these areas.
Although the piles are small in size visible smoke will potentially be seen.
