Body found by hiker in northern Utah

The body of a deceased person was recovered from a draw north of Providence Canyon Sunday afternoon and taken to the state medical examiner's office for identification.

According to Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Locke, the body was found on private property by a hiker approximately 200 yards above the deer fence east of Sherwood Drive.

"It's pretty rocky in that particular area, so for safety reasons, Search and Rescue came out and did an excellent job with their high angle rope team," Locke said.

The body is believed to be that of a male, but Locke said there was no clear indication of how long it may have been in the area or what happened to the individual.
