Avalanche warning in effect for parts of Southeast Idaho

An avalanche warning is currently in effect until 6 a.m. Friday for the Bear Lake and Franklin counties in Southeast Idaho.

The Utah Avalanche Center out of Salt Lake City is warning that avalanche danger is high in these areas, with the recent heavy snow combined with wind creating widespread areas of unstable snow.

Both human-triggered and natural avalanches are likely.

Backcountry travelers should stay away from slopes steeper than 30 degrees.
