ALTA, Wyoming — Ski patrol personnel and emergency responders spent Saturday searching the back country around Grand Targhee Resort for a snowboarder who was reported missing on Friday.
The missing individual is 34-year-old Lee Kidd of Driggs.
The Jackson Hole News & Guide reports Kidd, a resort employee, last had his season pass scanned at Grand Targhee at 10:45 a.m. Friday when he boarded the Dreamcatcher lift. Further, the newspaper reported that Kidd's supervisor alerted the Grand Targhee ski patrol at 4:10 p.m. Friday that Kidd was two hours late for his shift, which was out of character for him.
Kidd is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 160 pounds. He has long brown hair and brown eyes. Kidd was last seen wearing a brown jacket, black pants and a black helmet with goggles. He was riding a tan, black and green "Norm" snowboard.
Lt. Tom Combs with the Teton County, Wyoming Sheriff's Office said that as of 5:20 p.m. Saturday both Grand Targhee Ski Patrol and Teton County, Wyoming Search and Rescue personnel had concluded their search for the evening but would resume the search on Christmas Day.
Combs also said the searchers had covered a substantial amount of terrain. Winter weather hampered the search but searchers were able to use a helicopter to aid in their efforts for a short time on Saturday.
Combs said that Sheriff's Office detectives are also on the case. The News & Guide reported Saturday evening that authorities are not certain Kidd is lost in the back country around the resort.
"We would like the public's help if there is information out there or if anyone has talked to Mr. Kidd," Combs said.
